The Gas Alert Max XT II's sampling pump can draw a gas sample from up to 75 feet away. This is especially ideal for confined space work that requires a gas sample to be taken before entry. Using the sampling pump is easy, simply attach the tygon tubing with quick disconnect to the instrument. You will hear and feel a small "click" as the fitting locks onto the instrument. Now make sure that your filter is attached to the end of the sampling line. This will prevent any dust or water from being drawn into the instrument.The instruments powerful pump will draw gas at a rate of 2 seconds per foot of tubing. So if you are using the standard ten feet of tubing that is included with the instrument you would wait approximately 20 seconds for the gas to reach the instrument.
Sampling mode or diffusion mode
One of the Gas Alert Max XT II's most unique features is its ability to operate in either diffusion mode or sampling mode. The sampling mode is ideal for testing the atmosphere of a confined space before entry. After entry into the confined space you have the option of removing the front cover to turn the pump off. This cover is removed easily with the included screwdriver and removing it turns off the sampling pump. The unit is now ready to take samples in diffusion mode. If you need to restart the pump simply screw the front cover back onto the instrument and it will turn the pump back on.
Long battery life
The gas alert max xt has enough run time to last for 13 hours with the pump running continuously. With this long run time you can be assured that you won't have to worry about the battery not lasting for an entire work shift.
Easy to update
The Gas Alert Max XT II's software can be updated using the IR link adaptor (sold separately P/N# GA-USB1-IR). This means that as new features are added you will be able to download the new firmware and update your unit. For example, a firmware update was recently made available to all owners adding the new Intelliflash feature. This feature adds a flashing green light that lets the user know that the monitor is functioning properly without having to look at the screen.
What is the difference between the Gas Alert Max XT and the Gas Alert Max XT II?
The only difference is an improved oxygen sensor. The original Gas Alert Max XT used the P/N# SR-X-MC oxygen sensor. The new Gas Alert MAX XT II uses a much more reliable and longer lived sensor, the P/N# SR-X10-C.
Filters of XT-XWHM-B-NA
The Gas Alert Max XT II contains three levels of filtration to prevent the passage of water and dust into the pump. The first filter is placed on the end of the sampling line and filters the majority of particles and water. The second filter is a wafer style filter that is visible through a clear window on the back of the unit. This window allows the user to determine if the filter needs to be changed. The third filter is a paper filter that effectively isolates any dirt or water that may have made it past the first two filters. This 3 stage filtration system has proven to be extremely effective even in very dirty or wet environments.
