The 1756-IA16I is a ControlLogix Discrete input module which operate at a voltage category of 79 to 132V AC at a frequency of 47 to 63 Hz. This module has Sixteen (16) individually isolated channels. This module is directly installed to a 1756 local or remote chassis.

The Allen-Bradley 1756-IA16 is a ControlLogix I/O Module. This AC digital input module is an isolated type and has a display that shows the input and communication status and module health. The module’s input channels are individually isolated which are also individually rated at 125 Volts continuous input. This module directly connects to a ControlLogix chassis. The inputs of this module feature a change of state that can be manually configured by the user through the RSLogix 5000 software. Removable terminal block housings compatible with this module are the 1756-TBCH and the 1756-TBS6H.

The input voltage and voltage category of this module are both 120 Volts AC. The current draw at 24 Volts is 3 milliamps and for 5.1 Volts, it is 125 milliamps. The module’s operating voltage ranges from 79 to 132 Volts AC and 47 to 63 Hertz. Maximum power dissipation is 4.9 Watts at 60 Degrees Celsius and the thermal dissipation is 16.71 BTU per hour. Inrush current, at a maximum, is 250 milliamps and the total backplane power is 0.71 Watts. The screw to backplane input delay times are as follows: hardware delay is 10 milliseconds maximum plus user-selectable filter time (1 or 2 milliseconds), and hardware delay has a maximum time of 8 milliseconds and a user-selectable filter time ranging from 9 to 18 milliseconds. For the on-state, the minimum is 5 milliamps at 79 Volts AC, ranging from 47 to 63 Hertz, while the maximum is 15 milliamps at 132 Volts AC, ranging as well from 47 to 63 Hertz.

The Allen-Bradley 1756-IA16I is a Sixteen (16) Channel Discrete AC input module that features individually isolated channels. This module operates at a nominal input voltage of 120VAC with frequency of 50/60 Hz.

This module is mounted to a local or remote I/O ControlLogix chassis. Local ControlLogix chassis refers to an assembly where the ControlLogix processor is installed while remote I/O chassis refers a ControlLogix chassis that communicates to the local chassis through a communication adapter.

Discrete input modules are used by Programable Logic Controller (PLC) such as the ControlLogix system to interface to the process or machine and receive each individual input’s binary state that is OFF and ON. This is necessary as Allen-Bradley controllers begin logic execution by examining the status of inputs including the signals wired to the 1767-IA16I.

This module is compatible with any ControlLogix processor. It is also compatible with any ControlLogix communication adapter for implementing Remote I/O application. It is configured and parameterized with the use of RSLogix 5000 programming software or Studio 5000 Logix Designer.

This module uses a 36-point Removable Terminal Block (RTB) for wiring signals and allow modular replacement of a defective module without the need of full rewiring. As the channels of this module are individually isolated, each channel has individual common which allows the module to be used in application where direct AC commons are existing.

This module has front panel indicators that provide status of each channel. Whenever a channel is supplied with an appropriate signal, the dedicated LED indicator will be activated to confirm that the signal is received by the module.
